LONDON, August 23 (IranMania) - Islamic Revolution Court?s Branch 26 has sentenced political activist, Mohammad Mohsen Sazegara, to a prison term of seven years in absentia.

Sazegara?s lawyer, Shirzad Heydari-Shahbaz, told ILNA that the head of Branch 26, Judge Haddad, informed him that his client has been sentenced for acting against the country?s national security.

?I will appeal against the verdict issued by Branch 26, as soon I receive the copy of the verdict from the court,? he said.

The activist was arrested after Tehran University?s dorm incidents in June 2003, but was freed on bail after three months in Tehran?s Evin Prison.
Sazegara is presently undergoing medical treatment in the United States.
